Charlie qualified from Glasgow University in 1987 and has been working in the Livestock Industry for more than 35 years. Early in his career he managed a dairy, beef and poultry unit in Zimbabwe. He came to Cumbria/Dumfriesshire in 1997. He endured the FMD epidemic of 2001 and founded Border Vets in 2005.
Charlie has a particular interest in bovine TB epidemiology and parasitology. He served on the MAFF expert husbandry review panel for Bovine TB in 1999/2000 and was a consultant for the Northern Ireland Audit Office in their 2009 report on Bovine TB control in the province. Charlie is also a consultant for Vetbiz Livestock Development.
He lives in Canonbie with his wife Ruth, Dusty the cat and various ducks and bantams.
